Does poor ERP training cause ERP implementation failure?

Employee training is an important part of any ERP implementation - but when an ERP implementation project fails, how often is poor training the cause? Find out in this expert response.

When an ERP implementation fails, how often is poor training of the employees to blame?
ERP implementations rarely fail solely because of poor employee training. I say that because if core team members aren't trained to use the system, then business requirements can't be validated and business processes can't be correctly defined, so the failure would mostly likely be caused further upstream in the implementation. An effective ERP implementation plan would incorporate a "train the trainer" approach, where business people would develop end user procedures for the end users.
