Anaplan is a Web-based enterprise platform for business planning. Anaplan is also the name of the company that created the platform.
Anaplan, whose name combines the words "analysis" and "planning," is known for its in-memory database and calculation engine called HyperBlock. Once an enterprise customer uploads data to the Anaplan cloud, the customer's business users can quickly organize and analyze disparate sets of enterprise data from finance, human resources, sales and other areas of business operations.
Because the Anaplan platform provides enterprise customers with familiar Excel-style functionality, ordinary business users can use the software to make data-driven decisions that would otherwise require a data scientist's skill set. Anaplan includes modules for workforce planning, quota planning, commission calculation, project planning, demand planning, budgeting, planning and forecasting, financial consolidation and profitability modeling.
Anaplan did not meet the requirements for inclusion in Gartner's 2014 Magic Quadrant for corporate performance management software suites, but it was cited in the "other vendors worth considering" section. According to the report, Anaplan "provides a capable SaaS business modeling and planning platform for finance and other business functions to plan collaboratively and improve operational performance."
