CIFT

CIFT (Center for Innovative Financial Technology) is a research facility dedicated to the study of new technologies in the financial services sector. CIFT is primarily concerned with the effect of new technologies on the financial markets and the world economy.

The CIFT lab is central to the center’s operations. The lab employs the latest analytical tools and industry software, integrated with real-time data sources. Faculty research into new relationships and processes is a prominent aspect of the laboratory’s mandate. The lab also provides students with software training to prepare them for future careers in financial services.

CIFT was founded by University of California Berkeley fellow David Leinweber in 2009, as part of the Computational Research Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The Center is located on the Berkeley campus.
